Cheese Scone recipe Ingredients & Quantities- 2 cups of Flour
- 1 tsp. of Cream of Tartar
- 1 tsp. of Baking Soda
- 1/4 tsp. of Ground Pepper
- 1/4 tsp. of Mustard Powder
- Pinch of Salt
- 3 tbsps. of Unsalted Butter
- 1/2 cup of Milk
- 1/2 cup of Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Method- Sift together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, pepper, mustard and salt into the bowl of a food processor with metal blade inserted; add 2 tablespoons of the butter.
- Pulse about five times until lumps of the mixture are like peas.
- Add 1/2 cup of milk and continue to pulse. Add up to 3 tablespoons of additional milk until the dough is soft but not sticky. Add the cheese and pulse about another four times.
- Place the dough on a floured surface and knead lightly two or three times.
- Roll the dough to 3/4-inch thickness and cut out scones with a 2-inch cutter. Leftover dough scraps can be rerolled for cutting.
- Melt remaining tablespoon butter and brush over scone tops. Place scones on a greased baking sheet.
- Bake until golden, for about 10 minutes, in a pre-heated oven at 425F/210C.
